Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and former chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. She hosts her own Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her trademark spiky blond tresses and her edgy personality on Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, provides simple and easy to master cooking techniques that are suitable for the home cook. Chef Burrell is also a part of several of the city's most prestigious establishments, studied the Italian food and culture, and was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in the Upstate region of New York Chef Burrell was inspired by food. The Culinary Institute of America is where she went after earning an English diploma and Communications diploma at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was an amazing learning experience for me. I was never able to study or accomplish enough. After graduating, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) while attending an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. While in Italy Burrell developed an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian food and culture. It has had a profound impact on how Burrell cooks. Burrell was an Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board participant, with the goal of to enhance the quality of life for kids who are facing difficulties. Burrell also serves as an Juvenile Disease Research Foundation (JDRF) celebrity spokesperson and promotes awareness about childhood diabetes. She frequently travels around the country in her role as a mentor as well as a an invited speaker, where she talks about her work and passion for cooking. Anne has said throughout her professional career she's grateful to communicate with people what is essential for her.
